Going for interview - but already found a job

  • So long as you don't have to take time off from your new job to go to the interview, I'd definitely go along, if only for the experience.

If you have to make your new employer aware, I'd not go.
Too much risk involved in !!!!ing off your new employer and it doesn't show employee loyalty on your part.

It's a complete No brainer and you would have to come up with another excuse to attend the interview. I would still definitely go to the other interview.

As I said in a previous post you have to look out for number one and owe no loyalty what so ever to your new employer.

    "sod the employer"?
    Great CV you have there.
*crosses off Russe11 from any future interviews.

Although ... if you didn't really want the job you took ... why did you take it ? Or give the one you did want enough time to reply? Starting and leaving in job in little or no time will never look good on a CV - should you chose to declare it.

Do you expect job seekers to turn down a job in case the prefered job gets in touch. What are you advising the OP to have said when being offered the first job, ' Can i let you know next week, waiting for another job to get in touch'??? Jobs are not easy to get and sometimes you may have to just go for any opportunity available. The OP has said that he does like his job, but there is no law to say you have to stop looking once you have found work.

    Good Luck with the interview
    Hopeful optimistic.

Thank you for your comments. I had a chat with them on the phone today, and they said they'll contact me on Monday as there will be a face to face interview. I was honest and told them I had just started my current job, but was very interested in the other company and serious about finding out what the best option for my career could be.
Funnily enough the other job sounds very similar to my current one, if not on a slightly higher level and perhaps with a slightly higher salary... we'll see...
London Fashion Week tickets, Clinique Facial treatment set (I see it as a win :P) Mario Power Tennis Wii game, Aura by Swaroski perfume, Theatre Tickets to 'A woman alone' :T, £1000 with Kerrang's Scream4Cash, Links of London Wedding Themed Bracelet, Chipmunk O2 launch party tickets, Adidas All In gig tickets, Water For Elephants Double Bill tix

You have quite a conundrum on your hands. If the interview is to take place during work time, how do you get to leave the office to go ?.
You can't just say "right, I'm off for a job interview, see you in a couple of hours" can you ?.

Did the company who gave you the current job ask if yo had any outstanding interviews ?. That was asked of me this week as I was being interviewed for a permanent role in the job I've been temping at for a long time.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

That would be a pretty dumb thing to say. Who in their right mind would say that if they did have another interview?

This is a question which I always liked being asked. I always said Yes even if I hadn't other interviews lined up as It keeps them on their toes.

They usually ask it because If you are the right candidate for the job they will want to move quickly and snap you up. If they dither about wanting to go through 2nd and 3rd interviews etc there is always the chance that the candidate will accept another role from another interview.

Your first point applies in any job with any interview. Your second point, at the time of asking, they didn't have an interview lined up.

    No conundrum whatsoever.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
