I just read about David Beckham's transfer to Paris St Germain.

David Beckham pledged to donate his salary to a children's charity on Thursday after signing a five-month contract with Paris-Saint Germain, the latest stop on his globe-trotting career.

Nice lad!

Yes nice of him. Supposed to be a decent amount too although nothing has been revealed on our news either.

That Bill Gates is a bit of a good egg too. Not sure about his football though.

Apparently his best position in his playing days was left back...in the changing rooms.

He was fantastic on TV at the weekend talking about polio becoming the second eradicable (is that a word?) disease after smallpox. You could sense his passion for the subject and he came across as a really decent guy. Can't imagine Beckham being quite so eloquent. Mind you, I can't imagine Bill Gates being that good at set pieces, so swings and roundabouts I guess.

    Kudos to both though.

It is. €1million plus earners meant to pay 75% tax - he will earn more in endorsements.
Nice gesture Goldenballs, but don't pretend otherwise

I was going to say that but I make enough cynical posts.

No doubt there is an angle on it for him and he will manage to bend it past HMRC.

Even so he didn't have to do it.

Perhaps a bit more overt philanthropy from some of the oligarchs might paint them in a better light.

Of course he could afford it but I don't think he pretends otherwise. There are plenty of similarly wealthy individuals in this country who he puts to shame by this act of generosity. You know - kind hearted souls like sir Fred who tried to cling tooth and nails to his undeserved pay.
