in Cutting tax
Hi,
Due to being both in full-time employment and self-employed during 2011/2012, I was required to complete a self assessment tax return. I did this electronically on approximately 23/04/2012.
Now don't ask why but I was reviewing the tax return just now and I am of the strong belief I have made an error and, as a result, overpaid tax by close to £1K.
The HMRC guidance is somewhat confusing on their site but from what I can tell, the deadline for correcting the error may actually have been tonight.
My questions:
1) Is there hope for me to correct this error and have return to me the overpaid tax?
2) If so, how would I go about this? I'd ideally like to just get a professional to correct it to ensure no further errors so is there any recommended people/places I should be seeking this help from? I expect it won't come free and am happy to pay a reasonable fee, I don't envisage it should take too long as long as I provide them with my P60 and original tax return.
Thanks a lot for any help!

Log in again - choose tax return options - amend return. You have until 31st January 2014 to do this.0

Aha, so the deadline is fine and it's a simple online editing process. That's great news.
Just the final matter to clear up, if I'm wanting it to be completed/checked by a professional, where would I find the most cost-effective solution?0
