I will not be forced to buy something for my wife on a particular day just because some marketing executives feel they need to put that pressure on us, I buy things for my wife when I see something that I think she would like every few weeks/months. We are mega-skint at the moment and I will not spend money when I don't need/want to.
Having said that, I usually get her a card and spend some time thinking of what I want to say to her and how she makes me feel, and love the words that she writes to me. This is a far greater present than any bottle of wine/T-shirt she could have bought for me. What means the most to me, is how we feel about each other.
I would suggest to any woman writing some words in a card, or simply a piece of paper telling her man how he makes her feel will be the best present you can get him.0 -
Bit late now, it's 10.30ish in the a.m. of the big day, but can I suggest something 'made' by your loved one? Could be a card, dinner, vouchers for treats, whatever.
My girlfriend and I both do a bit of that, and it's usually cheaper than many of the purchased options

There was a quidco offer to effectively get 12 roses delivered for 'free' (after cashback). I did this for my OH, and I do hope he gets them. He works in a very masculine environment, and we both get a kick out of him getting flowers delivered at work! Last year I went for an arrangement with (manly)blues and purples in, but was a bit disappointed with the result.
I also found a similar offer for chocolates via TopCashBank which was posted on the Grabbit forum I believe. I gave these to him last night while we were watching a film. I bought these before the flowers, and didn't want to overdo it!

Suggestions from the menfolk at work included video games, cologne, cooking his favourite meal, lingerie (for you to wear and him to admire!) and tickets to a sporting event. I think browneyedbazzi is right. Personally although flowers, chocolates etc is nice I want something I can enjoy. A nice techy gadget, or a fancy watch.
