Buy now pay later - Focus DIY almost in administration

I bought a kitchen from Focus last week that should be delivered in about a month. It was bought on a 'buy now pay in 12 months' at 0% as I'd rather have the money in my bank account than theirs for 12 months.

Last night I stumbled on an article on the internet that said Focus were likely to go in to administration in two weeks. Nightmare. What can I do? Is it possible to cancel the whole thing? The credit agreement was signed on their premises but I have received nothing in the post yet from them and the credit agency haven't even got my accout number on their system yet. Both the delivery company and the credit agency don't want to know (they said "wait to see what happens" - yeah, thanks for that!)

Thanks for any help.

I'm not surprised at this news. Even the picture hooks with nails that I bought at Focus bent as soon as I tried to hammer them into a plastered wall. The extending hosepipe pole brush thingy leaks badly at the joint with the hose as the connector is such poor quality. Their shelves seem to be stacked with own brand stuff sourced, without concern for quality, from the cheapest Chinese supplier they could find.

My indicator of a well managed store is one that doesn't keep having the PA system blaring with "phfft phfft phfft (sound of blowing into mic), code 3 on tills please, code 3 on tills please". The one near me in Woking burnt down a couple of years ago. Sadly they rebuilt it and restocked with the same old crap (staff and product).

    Ermmm ... I think that's a bit harsh!

They are supplying a certain end of the market ...which may, or may not, be to your taste! Let's call it cheap and ceerful!

Today I bought a kitchen for a rental house of mine (needed a new one) ... that is being deivevered on Saturday ... I'm just hoping that they stay in business until then!!!

I also bought an entire bathroom suite for £160 ... not bad cosidering my tenants will likely wreck it within 5 years ... and at that price I can simply replace with another ... no problem!

  • Well, it's finally happened.
We've got some garden buildings on order and just been told they've gone into administration. It just took a bit longer to get there.
