Microfiber towel

I've seen these in a few shops and I have thought about buying one but I didnt know if they were any use. Would you recommend one?

  • Most definitely. I bought a few of those 99p "sport" towels from Home Bargains and they're amazing. The other towels in the bathroom are largely ornamental now. They dry almost immediately on contact with wet skin and are brilliant for soaking up the water from hair without rubbing and causing damage or tangles.

Some of the thicker, fluffier microfibre type I don't find so good. But on the whole, microfibre is a bit of a modern miracle.

We got some last year - it's amazing how the water just vanishes into them.
  • Thanks I think I will get one now. We have a home bargains so I will look in there.

  • I bought one specially for camping and found it not that nice to feel on the skin. Although, it suited my needs at the time (I was backpacking so carrying lightweight stuff was a huge priority). They dried really well. I wouldn't use it for the home not unless you don't mind how it feels against the skin..

I gave it away to charity years ago (it was about £15 at the time) and felt it was a waste of money...

I wouldn't use them on my skin, they're not really for that. They're for washing your car, cleaning your TV and computer screens, dusting around the home, cleaning your windows. That sort of thing.

The texture is a little strange at first. It would be worth buying ones that you can have a feel of first to make sure you like it.

We've got some several different ones - some have a smoother texture than others.
  • My son bought a travel towel when he went backpacking and it feels horrible but it did the job.
Smaller hand/tea towels though are amazing and so cheap, much better than dusters/cloths for any wet job around the house.
I've just remembered he also bought a huge bath towel in Australia and I think that might be a sort of microfibre, it's lovely.
    xx
  • I was more planning to use it for sports and camping not everyday use. I have bought one from aldi so i'll see how that goes. It does feel a bit rough even though I've washed it but if it dries me quick then I could put up with it.

I bought a couple of these recently and they stink to high heaven of the plastic pouch they came in. Anyone know how to wash them? I assume you have to do it carefully?

I stick one in my bag for days out in the summer, cleans kids hands from ice creams, dries wet feet from paddling, I use it as a blanket if I am in the park to sit on and it just gets shoved in the washing machine when we get home.

Very very handy piece of material!
