Hi
Could anyone advise me on the best places to buy fresh meat.
Mr S and Mr T both do the 3 for £10 meat buts they tend to be the same stuff most of the time.
Mr A also does the same offer but i find the potion of these packs mean i need to buy 2 or 3 of the same thing to feed all 6 of us and thus have to spend lots to get variety.
Any tips peeps?:D

Hi, If you have access to a Bookers store, I find their meat is fantastic! You have to buy in bulk but the quality is superb!0

I normally buy all my meat from Lidl. I always find the quality of meat there really high, especially the pork and chicken.0

Best place to buy fresh meat ?
I would suggest an independent butcher which does organic or local meat or buying direct from a farm which doesn't feed GM food.
However I think what you're asking is best place to buy cheap meat.
You'll need to ask questions of the supplier -
Were the animals fed on genetically modified crops/feed made from GM crops ? Is the meat British ? Was it reared in EU or elsewhere ? Has the meat been frozen previously ? Does it have added water ? Does it have additives ?0 -
Morrisons often do very good prices on joints, but they sort of rotate what's on offer. Got a lamb joint last weekend at £6.77 per kilo I think.
Not sure what they have at the moment.0 -
Best place is local butcher where you discuss which farm the meat came from how long it's been hung for, how to cook it...etc...and they are also quite reasonably cheap and if you ask they'll chuck in some bones for stock for free.:footie:

I'd definitely say the local butcher. They will have the cheaper cuts of meat i.e skirt of beef, ham hocks, oxtail etc, that it can be harder to find in supermarkets. I bought 600g of skirt of rare breed beef from our village butcher for less than £4. It made a huge stew, enough for two days, & would have stretched further had I needed it to do so. Our local butcher also freezes odds & ends that he has left & would go past their date, so you can pick up pots of lamb mince, duck breasts, stewing meat, etc, cheaply. The other advantage is that you buy exactly how much you need. If that's 2 rashers of bacon or 150g mince, it's all loose, so they will sell you however much you need. If they get to know you, you'll find they often round the price down to the nearest 50p or £1 too, or give you the last little bit of mince or stewing steak free cos there's not enough left on the tray to sell to anyone else."For each of our actions there are only consequences" (James Lovelock)"For in the true nature of things......every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold & silver" (Martin Luther King Jnr)0
