Mortgage redemption fee - claim

My oh has just told me that he heard that you were able to claim the fee charged when closing the mortgage.

How do we go about doing this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You cannot claim the whole fee back and you cannot claim back early redemption penalties.

All you can attempt to claim back is the difference between the redemption penalty stated on your original offer letter and what they charged you (assuming it has not been a reasonable increase). i.e. if the offer letter stated £100 redemption charge and then you paid £250, then you can claim for that £150.
