There is no need for your landlord to knowyou are claiming HB....make this your number one priority tomorrow.
I am reasonably certain HMRC can reassess you if the situation has changed considerably, which in your case it has.
Email your local MP, they have a 'hotline' through to the HMRC to sort these types of issues out quickly. Stress you are in absolutely dire circumstances and the needs of your child prevail. If your MP is any good they can have this looked into and hopefully sorted within a few days.
Good luck, the only way is up now :-)

Depending on who you bank with you should be able to get the money back straight away if you log it as an unauthorised payment, the bank will then chase the lender to reclaim the money from them. Even though you gave them your bank details that doesn't give them the right to take any amount they like at any time
The payment isn't unauthorised so the bank won't refund. If the OP owes money, Minicredit will take it using the card details, as they have. If by any chance the bank do agree to dispute it, Minicredit will simply reject the dispute and the OP will be redebited.
The OP needs to call them to make an arrangement if she still owes them any money. The good thing is that if this has now been repaid in full, there won't be any more fees to pay.0 -
Yep the bank refused to refund it
counted up the coppers and weve got £18.... woop!
my partner has spoke to his parents! who may be able to help out! but have just had to pay builders from work they were having done he had forgotton about! they are letting us know what they can do
he may have sold some tools,he doesn't really use anymore and can manage without so that could bring us about £150 in,but £60 of that would have to go to an invoice he owes aswell0 -
Unless the invoice is past due, leave it for now, it is not a priority. PAYING YOUR COUNCIL TAX and getting food is.
Can you get a food parcel from the salvation army/local church etc?
What about a crisis loan from the DSS (eg for the council tax).
Definitely apply for council tax benefit. Go into the office ane explain what has happened on Friday. They may stay the court bit if you are proactive.
good luck

As RAS and others have said when you claim housing benefit it is paid directly to you, the LL is rarely informed.
Call tax credits and say you want to be assessed on CURRENT years income. They don't like doing it as you can end up with an overpayment if you don't estimate your annual income correctly.
Many women have to do this when they are on maternity leave as they need the money at the time when their income is low not the year after!0 -
why dont people listen if you hav a payday loan u cant pay simply cancel your debit card and order a new one and dont pay they never take you to court no matter what people on here say they would be laughed at look at the intrest debt companys phone me all the time i laugh at them the only person who can enter your property if they send a baliff is a court appointed one they will never ever get one i went to court over a payday loan years ago it was wiped out and it was 459 in total its even worse for them now ignore them tell them u want them to take you to court i bet you get letter from some dead end baliff full of empty rubbish about what they can do which is NOTHING. by the way i have had over 5 grand in payday loans i even give them my new address when i moved and keep my old mobile number on so i can speak to them and update my details dont worry STAND FIRM tell them u lost your job and have no money and your on jsa offer £1 aweek and not by debit card?:j0

Hi whitej90 I'm so sorry you are having such an awful time. I think you need to get some specialist advice. Make an appt with CAB or CAP for as soon as possible. I second putting in a claim for HB. If you receive an award the money will go into your bank not your landlord's and then you just pay your rent as usual.
Next I would also suggest making a claim for a social fund loan - it's not called this anymore but speak to someone at the DWP/Council about claiming an emergency loan.
Can you go to a food bank? You will receive a fairly decent parcel of food which will help you over the emergency.
speak to your LL and see if he will reduce your rent for a short period/couple of months so you can get back on your feet. If you are a good tenant and have been for some time he is likely to consider this for a short period to keep you.
I also agree insist on a reassessment with TC on your current income. It's not standard but can be done. Again speak to CAB or CAP about how to go about this.
also really do consider if you can sell anything - a friend of mine has sold her sofa before to make her mortgage payments and then later bought one from ebay when things have been better. Items can be replaced
Can you speak to a colleague and see if you can pool share with them for the month?
Long term you need to consider how you are going to increase your income. Can your oh look for a part time job. If his SE work isn't bringing in enough income you need to consider other options.
Wishing you lots of luck xDF as at 30/12/16

Housing benefit IS paid direct to the renter not the landlord. has been for years
Speaking as a property accountant, this is not always the case. We do have some authorities that pay us directly although many do pay the tenant. You will need to check if yours will be paid to you. i have spoke to the bank who said i may be able to get the money back if i say it was an unautherised transaction, witch it was! but i suppose if i have given them my bank details for repayment (well debit card) then it cant be can it?
You should like other's said open a basic bank account and get everything paid into it. Then approach a debt charity or try and get the PDL's to arrange payment plans yourself.
As for the unauthorised transaction once Minicredit show the bank where you e-signed for your loan they can't do a thing. You have signed their terms and agreements and they don't know how much money you have in your account. You won't get this back just accept its gone and be done with them."All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, the point is to discover them."

This post is nine months old - the OP hasn't been here since February.
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0
