    The biros are on me!

When I run out I'll be supplying blunt forks from my cutlery drawer instead.

I think you should open an ebay business hiring out biros or blunt forks if need be - could I have a quote for postage on 3 biros and 2 forks please, should keep me going until the weekend.

the buyer has done his/her bit when the money is received

I wish I had more of these buyers who are happy their part of transaction is complete once they have paid - If receiving the item isn't part of the transaction, it would save me the tedious business of actually posting out what they've paid for!

Personally, however, i'll stick with the view that

seller receives money + buyer receives goods = completed transaction

and continue leaving my feedback at the end of the transction as Ebay advise.

...Ebay advises both parties that, no mention of who should leave first. Having been paid for an item before I've sent it, I've always taken the view that it's ethical to leave feedback before the other party does. Getting the feedback is not as important as getting the money, and good feedback will come for being a seller who completes a transaction properly. I have a 400+ feedback of 100% and always leave feedback first as a buyer - no "I'm only leaving it for you if you leave it for me" whimpering.

I have 1400+ all positive 100% and leave feedback once the buyer has completed their part of the transaction by confirming they were happy with the goods by leaving feedback.

.... at the risk of Fay's biro thing...... that's how people manipulate 100%feedback, by only leaving feedback once they get it. I just don't like it, and won't be posting again in this thread as I'm not here to row.

So its okay for the buyer to only leave feedback once they get it!!

I have my feedback and 100% from giving good service not manipulating anything, any queries are resolved before any feedback gets left which is how it should be. My actual rating would be over 1700 but repeat customers don't add to your rating, I would hardly have many repeat customers if I was manipulating my customers.

    I'm a simple gal and I don't know much.

I do know an ebay representative posted on this thread http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=400096882&start=0 that he believes buyers should leave feedback first.

'that's how people manipulate 100%feedback, by only leaving feedback once they get it.'

I disagree - I feel that waiting for the buyer to give email or actual feedback on the sale encourages dialogue in the event of a problem, and keeps the lines of communication open.

I don't see my message (posted above) as begging!! its a polite reminder that feedback is outstanding, in case they may have forgotten, and an enquiry as to whether or not their were any outstanding issues.

some people do need reminding, not everybody is a die hard ebay fanatic who logs in to their account several times a day, there are people who purchase an item and don't bother with ebay for weeks or months until they need to purchase again, hence leaving feedback doesn't cross their minds.

as for who leaved feedback first, well we could argue for eternity as both sides have valid arguments, but I as a seller believe that a transaction is NOT complete the moment a buyer has paid, as they are yet to receive it and their may be other issues such as potential faults with the goods you send or the goods not reaching their destination.

if I was to leave feedback for someone who purchased a mobile phone the minute I received payment, and the buyer was to later initiate an unjust chargeback, would that buyer be deserving of the positive feedback?

    NO
