Hi,
I became Sole Trader, self employed in March 2012, not very successful trading so far, will I need to submit a SA by the 31st? I have received a letter to pay my NI class 2 contributions with an amount which I will pay in the next few days.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, basically the HMRC year runs from 06/04 to the 05/04 so the answer to your question is yes. It will probably be a very simple return though. It may be worth telephoning HMRC and if you didn't do any trade before 05/04 they sometimes allow you to change your trading date so in fact change your business start date to 06/04, in which case you wouldn't need to do a return until after April this year, it's worth a try. Hope this helps.0
