Pro search-Unclaimed entitlements

Firstly,I apologise if this is in the wrong place!
My brother recently received a letter from a company called Pro search. They are looking for relations of my late grandmother as they are working for a major corporation who have unclaimed entitlements in her name.
After doing some checking,he decided that although legit, they work like the PPI people and leave you with a check for very little.
I have also received a letter from them, but would like to take it further, but not with this company.Trouble is,I have no idea who the major corporation is.I have no desire to be sent a check for a tenner if Im actually owed a grand or something.
Is there any way of proceeding without using pro search?
Any advice would be great.Might be worth adding that Im in Scotland,so laws etc maybe different.
thanks
