Are you set up as a business, with a certified kitchen and public liability insurance?

You could start a Facebook page, that way it will be local so you can deliver the cakes easily and your friends can recommend you.
If it is something that works well and you start to expand I'd invest in a website.
Also most local areas have their own magazine or paper and offer really cheep rates.
Whatever you go for don't go too mad too early, you can only make so many cakes at a time and you don't want to keep saying no to people when you are starting out.

I am not sure about the best way to advertise your goods but please do make sure you make use of the spelling and grammar check tools on your computer to make sure you sound as professional as possible.

My one tip would be to do it all as officially & correctly as you can. By getting your insurance & costings etc right from the start it will give you a business that will last in the long term.
