Can i claim tax back for childcare costs?

Hi,
I'm due to start a new job & will be skint no longer! I'll be earning £1000 per week (I currently only earn £100 per week) I've heard that if i can't claim £10,000 per year expenses, then i'll be supertaxed. That sucks! Is this correct?
I wouldn't mind being so heavily taxed if my childcare didn't cost so much! I'll have to pay a nanny £245 - £300 per week...Can i claim any tax back for my childcare costs?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Childcare costs can be claimed if they are a regsited childcarer and accept vouchers.
If you are going self employed then you might be able to register your company for the scheme and ensure that you offer it to all employees.
It could save you over 1k in tax if done correctly..

I am sure others will be able to advise also
  • Thanks ever so much for your advice!
Well, i'm self employed already & will continue to be. I'll be getting my Nanny through an agency (For safety reasons etc), so i'll pay the agency & they'll pay the nanny.
This complicates things a bit doesn't it? I've not heard about these vouchers. What are they please?

If the earnings are to be £1000 per week then the OP is not self-employed.
  • The job is TV presenting, so i'll be working for a company; but will remain self employed. I hope this makes sense.

Please would you explain this as i don't understand?
