Anyone got Frye boots? Do they stretch/wear in ok?

On Friday I grabbed a pair of Frye boots for £70 on Amazon, reduced from £300 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Frye-Womens-Cindy-Brown-77802DBN8/dp/B001VNBUBI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359383637&sr=8-1)! To my delight they arrived today and whilst I can get them on, they are quite tight around the calves and it is pretty difficult to get my foot in at the ankle.
Has anyone got Frye boots and managed to wear them in? I've read conflicting stuff online, with some people saying they go nice and supple and fit like a glove after a few wears but others saying that due to the leather being stiff they stay hard.
They only had my size (4) or 6 in stock, so I can't swap them. This is the most I've ever spent on a pair of shoes though and told myself I'd send them back if they weren't right, so don't want to wear them outside and for them never to be uncomfortable.
Currently got them on and walking round the house!
