we are in almost exactly the same posisiton,

£1,800 in and £1,800 out. It's called life I think. You can't really expect your partner to stop his magazine and his mobile, what else does he get for going to work ?

Good luck, if you want to compare bills then message me.

    cheers.

hmm  a happy wife and kids and things to look forward to in the future :D

yep, assuming your income is always going to match your outgoing and you'll never be able to save is a bit defeatist! - hope that is not how you always think of life Mr Tom ;) . Also, I wouldnt suggest that OH should give up the things he enjoys (mobile, magazine) but there are always ways too make things more economical! :D
I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!!

I agree. It's down to the both of you to make sacrifices. Although your OH wouldn't exactly be making sacrifices if he changed mobile contract/payg and took his number with him. Plus someone has already suggested using the net or the library as an alternative to the magazine subs. Every little helps indeed. There are many ways that people can actually reduce their daily/weekly/monthly spending.

Do a car boot and get rid of any unwanted junk. Ebay the better items, or sell through local papers, shop windows, supermarket 'for sale' boards. https://www.adtrader.co.uk is also free.

This site is full of ways to save money and even if you think you've saved on everything possible you can always find more ways... it's almost never ending... just remember to have a bit of fun every now and then!

    Good luck,

    Munki.
    Nice to save.

Tell OH is spending two weeks child benefit on his phone. I dont care if he likes to txt YOU CANT AFFORD IT! Surely he can a least look to reducing the bill by at least half if nothing else.

Do you work? If not can you do something part-time like child minding? If your daughters about to start school perhaps you could be paid to care for her friends for a couple of hours after school, or maybe something as simple as a paper round that she can help with. We have free papers in this area and my daughter gets an average £12 per week for 2 hours work and every little helps (or is that something else!)

It is a horrible feeling living in a consumer world when you don't have the money but it is a much better feeling getting the debt figures down and I think you are on the path just by being here.
