Student Loan Advice

I took out a student loan in 2001-2004.

I worked P/T for four years after graduating but then an ongoing mental health problem got worse and meant I was unable to keep working. I've since been supported financially by family until last year when I applied for ESA. I was denied the benefit after the assessment phase, did not appeal and am now again supported by family with no other benefits.

I got a letter from student loans company saying I have to provide proof of circumstances so they can determine if I have to pay the student loan back. Well, I obviously have no income at all but if I say I'm financially supported by my parents will they be liable to pay?

Thanks for any responses.
