edited 28 January 2013 at 12:02PM in Bankruptcy & living with it
I was declared bankrupt in the UK in May 2012. I finally thought I was getting my life back on track, but have recently received an email from a Company in NZ for an outstanding debt. I lived there May 2008-Nov 2009. One debt from NZ was inc in my bankruptcy, and I never heard any more about this. I advised the new creditor that I was bankrupt, but they have emailed me saying that it doesn't apply to NZ and asked for payiment. Can anyone please give me some advice? I am starting to feel like there is never going to be any end to this....thank you

    Following my post above, I have searched online to look for any info and found the following;

    Do debts I owe to foreign creditors fall into my bankruptcy?
    Yes - all of your creditors in the world, except taxes due to non-EU countries, are able to claim in the bankruptcy being conducted in this country.

    I am hoping that this is the case, and can again breath a sigh of relief. If anyone knows any different, or has any experience...your advice would be much appreciated...thanks

    Glad you found an answer, good to know it's covered.

    As you now have found out, creditors tend to say anything to force payment.
