in Cutting tax
I am filing the self assessment for the year ending 5 april2012. I am in full time employment and pay tax through paye. I am also acompany director, but i didn't take any dividends or expenses from this companyfor this tax year. Do I need to enter this directorship in the self assessmentform? Thought I shouldn't because I did not have receive any income from it.Has anybody been in the same situation or knows the answer? Thank you inadvance.

You should include the directorship in the tax return. However, because you have received no remuneration from the company, you may find that the HMRC self assessment tax return will give you an error message if you attempt to continue with the return having entered £0.00 in the pay and tax boxes for this directorship.
I usually get around this problem by explaining in the "any other information" box at the end of the tax return that my client was a director of Company X, but received no remuneration during the tax year.November 2007 £570k 25 years - MF March 2033
