confused about nic qualifying years

sorry in advance as I am not clever with these matters. I am 48 and am wondering how many qualifying years i have of nic contributions. Could somebody tell me how much nic needs to pay in annually to make the year qualify. My query is because i work flexible hours some years i have paid more than others, some i have only paid £60 ish others £600. I have never claimed benefits for myself but did have 3 children as a stay at home mum. I hope i have not confused anybody and i have sent for a nic statement I just feel I am probably needing to do more as time is flying by now. thanyou.
