Anyone used Amazon to buy food ?

Options
I've noticed that Amazon sells food and that it's possible to subscribe and save for several things we buy.

Anyone done this and care to share their experiences good or bad please ?

Do you get a huge box as from Approved Food ? Do different things come from different places ? How much does it save ?

Many thanks :T

Ive had a few bits from them, tinned, coffee, crisps and cleaning products. Always quick delivery, the belvita biscuits were a little smashed but still tasted good! I only order if i know its the cheapest place at the time as the prices do fluctuate, i think you can easily cancel the subscribe and save though!

I've only ordered baked beans from them. They had an offer on for 4 tins for a £. You can get this at the supermarket at times, but it saved me having to lug them back or hunt for the next offer. I got free delivery too. Beans were all fine, no dents in the tins or anything.

Subscribe and save doesn't mean you will get the stuff on schedule though. I am supposed to get cat food every two months. Currently is out of stock and at the moment due to be delivered in 6 weeks. This was due yesterday so 6 weeks overdue. This is delivery 2- delivery one was sent straight away upon ordering. Goodness knows when I will get delivery 3. Maybe that will be late as well or 2 weeks (as scheduled) after delivery 2. Nowhere near once every 2 months so far!

Luckily I had noticed it was oos and have been getting a box here & there just in case.
  • I have ordered pasta a few times (box of 24 bags) but not on subscribe and save. I'm happy just to order it when we need it as it usually arrives next day.

Yes we've tried a few things like this. So far we have had coffee, yorkshire sauce (like Worcestershire sauce, but suitable for vegetarians, and even more tasty in my opinion), hubby's multivitamins and possibly a few other bits that I can't remember.

On one occasion they didn't have the coffee that they were supposed to send and then when they did get it the price had gone up quite a lot so we cancelled it.

Hoping that doesn't happen with the yorkshire sauce as I can't get it in any of the local supermarkets here and the only other vegetarian Worcestershire sauce I can find is vile, after the nice one was discontinued.
  • I use it all the time for coffee, tea, cat food, packed lunch snacks such as bars and crisps, laundry detergents etc. I also nose through the best seller lists now and again and pick up amazing deals on non essentials like goose fat tins, pine nuts, pickles, chocolate and olives.

Latest purchase? £6.16 for 36 packets of Natural Confectionery Co Guzzle Puzzle sweeties for party bags. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006523RKC/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01. 16p (ish) per packet delivered. May even swipe some for me!

It's very easy and quick. Delivery is in a big amazon box usually.

(I only use subscribe and save for my initial purchase to gain the additional 10%. I then cancel future deliveries as the price is variable from then on.)

I recommend it, if you can use bulk quantities.
  • Responding to this thread earlier spurred me on to have another browse on Amazon groceries. I am so glad I did, I have found Heinz Tomato Frito which I have been unable to buy here for at least two years! It's the most flavoursome tomato sauce ever and nothing else compares! Even Delia used to use it in her cheat recipes! I have snapped up 12 jars!

I've bought Clipper organic teabags on subscribe and save, but you need to keep an eye on the price. I was paying just over £8 for a box of 440, but noticed that my next delivery was going to be £13! So, I've cancelled the order.

Always grab the bargains when i can hunt them out on there i've had washing powder, beans, fairy liquid, babywipes, nappies (not all food i know) and kids cup drinks but they were a nightmare every time they were delivered they would be leaking and the driver just dumped them on the door step. 4 times this happened in the end i told amazon i wanted a refund instead which they agreed to easily. So i'd use them again but not for anything like drinks.
