Leicester County Court

Hello All,
I took the plunge and am now an adjudged bankrupt and thought I ought to share my experiences with Leicester County court in order that other people may have a little more information.
When I first decided to go BR, I emailed the court bailiffs to find out about when I could petition. I was told, I could attend any day Monday - Thursday, 10am to 4pm and then MUST attend the next morning at 9.30 am when the judgement is made, just in case the judge wanted to see me. All good.
So, I fill out my from using the insolvency website. Print out a copy, sign it and take it to the court, arrving about 2pm Monday.
When I get there, eventually somebody comes to see me and I am then told that I need THREE copies of this form. So, now after having spent on a train ticket to get to Leicester and having taken 2 half days off work for this, I'm now faced with having to go home and start all over again. Of course, I could go find a local shop to get copies, but nobody knows where! As I'm decided what to do, the clerk proudly announces "but we close at 3 today"... well, thanks for telling me in advance before I took a train to get here before 4!
Anyway, in the end, i got it copied at the court, at a cost of £1 for the first page then 20p/page after that. Luckily, the fees where only £485 and I had £500 with me, so it worked out well.
I attended at 9.30am today, all went well, I didnt have to see the judge, just had to wait a little while until the paperwork was stamped. However, during all this - the staff are on strike! Again, you'd not know before hand if you had just travelled the length of the county to get there between 10 & 4!
1) Take THREE copies of the form
2) Phone before you intend to go and make sure they're open.
3) The fees (as of time of writing) are £485
I hope this helps somebody.
Tony

LOL. Aye, then I'd have to hold onto my jockstrap all the way home!
Thinking of the car, I'm thiking sod it, let them take it, I'll use my bike for a couple of months and order shopping online until I can afford to buy something a little smaller and cheaper to run.

Or he could have been "Frog Marched" away for illegal parking, or "Toad to Hop It" out of the court for only having one copy or maybe even "Spawned a Riot" by complaining about the court opening hours.
At least you can blame the medication Jock :rotfl:0 -
