  • Thanks for the encouragement and advice - means a lot!

Surprisingly I'm actually pretty good on the toiletries front - haven't had to cut back too much in this area (although have definitely dug some stuff up since I've started this challenge rather than automatically buying new replacements).

My big thing is my hair which I can spend more on each month than some people spend on their groceries :eek::eek:

And it's one of the more difficult areas that I have to address :(

I've had dyed blonde hair since forever and I pay someone in a salon to make sure that i have nice died blonde hair. However since going down the MSE path it's become such a standout figure in my expenditure (before it just used to blend it with all the other spends)

So this lunchtime I was standing in Superdrug staring at the 'do it yourself' hair colour with a slight feeling of dread! Am just v scared of buying a 'Scandinavian blonde' colour and coming away looking like Ronald McDonald!

Have been reading about it online though and supposedly shop bought dyes are just as good as the salon ones these days so will give it a go.

It's funny how your attitude toward things changes as this journey progresses isn't it? Day 1, home hair dying DEFINITELY wasn't on the agenda :-).

    £120 (including a cut) every 4-6 weeks that's up to £1,440 a year!!!
    MBNA - [STRIKE]£2,642.15[/STRIKE] £0
    [STRIKE]HBOS - £245[/STRIKE] £0 HBOS - £5,052 - 6.95% lifetime of the balance and [STRIKE]£1,864.30[/STRIKE] £0 and £3,132.67- 0% 29th October 2013)
    Postoffice [STRIKE]£3,240[/STRIKE] £3,035 (0% 3rd December) Open University Loan [STRIKE]£412[/STRIKE] £0
    GRAND TOTAL = [STRIKE]£16,500.46[/STRIKE] £13,977

    Hi there

Don't give up yet, there are lots of very good hair dressers that work from home that charge a fraction of the cost. I used to have blonde highlights which cost a fortune, when it was time to cut back I found a mobile hair dresser that came to me to do a full head for £35. It's still more expensive than DIY but doing it yourself is a brave step especially if you don't want to do it. I found mine via netmums on the local notice board, I know you don't have kids but no one needs to know lol.

Good luck and well done on you LBM.
