Injury at work summer 2012

Hello,
I need some advice please people, I have recently learnt my Mum in Law has had an accident at work in late 2012.
She works at an airport, as an airline manager. She was walking and tripped over a pallet that was in front of the check in desk
To explain a bit further; Ticket desk is on a corner, about 10 foot distance is a seating area where customers wait, and M-I-L greets them and takes them through to their flight, they pay for a VIP service. There was no lighting where the pallet was placed, however this has now been rectified since M-I-L had the accident.
The pallet was placed between the ticket desk and the seating area, unfortunately my M-I-L was walking over with a clipboard ticking off names didn't notice the pallet that had been left there and fell right over it. thankfully she managed to protect her face and only had slightly bruising but since being in the cold has really bad problems with her shoulder, which she been told by her doctor is 'frozen shoulder'
Would there be anything she can do to put a claim in for this? She hasn't mentioned it to me before because she works there still and doesn't want to get sacked or have people play funny with her, and tbh i don't either.
How does a claim work? she works for 1 company but the company who were responsible for the pallet was Jet2 which she does not work for, and the airport itself is responsible for the lighting.
would appreciate any help on this, as i am unsure how to even take babystesps!!:eek:
thanks, MK55

Perhaps the first step would be to obtain medical opinion that her fall has caused her frozen shoulder. This may not be straightforward as frozen shoulder can occur with no cause and in her case may simply be coincidental..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Does your MIL have legal cover on her home insurance? They may have a free helpline that may be a good place to start.Thinking critically since 1996....0

She should have been looking where she was walking and not burying her head in her clipboardBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Did she record it in the accident book? If not then I don't hold out much hope of achieving anythingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Hi all,
thanks for the responses ; she is booked in the doctors on Tuesday, we will ask the questions.
Yeah she does have legal cover on home insurance.
She did record it in the accident book.
Paddedjohn - thanks for the input such excellent and useful advice, I couldn't of imagined thinking that one up myself.0 -

Well that's what their insurance are going to say, there are thousands of people who use air ports every day nd no doubt some of them leave luggage in the way of people walking around so she seriously should be looking where she is going. (Or not mention that she had her head in her clipboard)Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Typical. Someone walks-around without a clear view of where they are going and trips over an object in their path & all of a sudden the firm is at fault for the person's accident.
I'm surprised that she didn't get sent on a safe working practices course.
I believe there is a time limit in which to start (and complete) an accident claim. Lets hope the airport don't string-out their response time to push it beyond the 2 year mark & time-out the claim as Guilform did to a mate of mine a year or 2 back.Never Knowingly Understood.

Your MIL will have a hard time trying to prove the fall caused her 'frozen shoulder'.
Frozen shoulder occasionally follows a shoulder injury, however it is not usual and most cases occur for no apparent reason. Its is also more common in women.
She could be in for a rough time trying to prove it and add extra stress to her work enviroment.0
