Do you have to exchange rings?

Options
Our registrar called on Friday just to see if we had any questions. I forgot to ask if you have to have the exchange of rings part?

Does anyone know?

Well I know some guys don't have a ring, so the men's ring is optional, so I would think both must be optional.

I'm pretty sure it said on the form for ours it is optional.
  • I thought it was optional too, I guess they may need to know beforehand though to change the vows??

It's on our forms but not under optional. I think I'll wait until we go and give our song choices and ask then.

You dont have to exchange rings as I asked the question at our registry office.
It is optional as I want to save our ring exchange for our ceremony abroad :-)
  • we had the same thing! the rings are symbols you can exchange hola hopes or haribo if you want. generally most people do exchange rings but it up to you whether the groom has a ring or not it is not a legal requirement that the groom has a ring. if this is about this bride I don't know I would check with the person conducting the service.

In the Church of England the woman HAS to have a ring. It is optional for the groom.
I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.

It is for myself (bride) but its not Church of England, its a civil service.
