is it possible for a mortgage provider to change

is it possible for a mortgage provider to change your mortgage into
one that is portable is this able to be done easily as at the momment ours isn't and as it is we are with possibly with the worst of all providers London Mortgage Company acenden know we need to move as we live next door to neighbours from hell and police are rubbish at dealing with it.
so help very much appreciated

    Porting is effectively just about the rate, it's subject to a reassessment of your ability to pay and acceptability of the new property. Sounds as though it might be difficult to sell your current place, good luck with that but you might need to take a hit on the sale price.

    It's possible, but depends on the lender.

    Not sure how you'll be successful selling if you answer the questions on the solicitor's forms honestly though.

    If you think portability gives you an automatic right to another mortgage, or a way of transferring a mortgage to another property without status checks, you are incorrect.

    As has been mentioned, portability allows you to move the rate from an existing mortgage to a new one with the same lender if you qualify.

    In answer to your direct question, no, lenders won't add portability after the event. If it isn't at the outset, it never will be...
