My mother told me to put a post on here to see what others thought!! I am currently 6 months into my DMP. I recently (jan) had an unpaid debt catch up with me!!. I disclosed this to the DMP people and they stated that they would not add this to the DMP and that I had 3 months to clear it!!. The three months is now up and I have recieved a letter asking for confirmation of a zero balance, which I cannot do (but the balance has decreased due to an arrangement). When I rang the DMP department back in jan, the lady (who was not very nice) stated: " I am not going to sugar coat this you are in alot of Debt and you did not tell us abut this debt originally, so we can cancel the arrangement we have with you if you do not clear it". I am now very scared. I have been paying each month and love seeing my debt decreasing, but, It is now over...or is it??.
Can they cancel the DMP??
Can I carry on paying my creditors the same as what the DMP has been paying by BACS each month and continue??
What do you all suggest as I am at the end of the road.

Kate can I ask who your DMP is with? I am flabbergasted that a company that is there to help you deal with your debt is being so mean and unfriendly!! I can't say any more on the subject with any conviction or knowledge, but if you started a DMP, and they have managed to sort out the rest of your creditors, then surely they could re-assess your situation taking into mind the fact that there is another creditor to distribute your monthly payment to
To me it just sound bliming lazy and rubbish for a company to not want to help you in this situation. Please remember that there is plenty of other companies who can do a DMP for you and as it is a voluntary agreement you totally have the right to go to another company who have your best interests at heart and will actually be willing to help you get out of your debt situation.

How were you expected to pay another debt off with no available money. who are the DMP company. Is it one that you have to pay. If I were you I would approach another more sympathetic company. Try National debtline.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Sorry, I don't know a great deal about DMPs but I am sure that others will be able to help you during the course of the day.
Does seem a bit harsh to me though, 3 months is nothing. Have you done a recent statement of affairs to see if there is any way you can increase the amount you are paying to clear it any quicker?

How much is this other debt for? When was it taken out- when was the last time you paid anything towards it. More info please would be great!
Lets see - by poisting your SOA - if theres anything at all we can do to find you the money to clear this spare debt. MAybe selling something would bring in some extra cash to throw at that debt and you can try to hold your DMP together - fingers crossed.
Yes, the dmp vcan be cancelled, but lets try & find any which way we can to keep it together with you
All the best, lets get creative

Hi again - to be honest I am shocked that it is CCCS! Everyone on here raves about them. Perhaps it would be worth giving them another call or arrange an appointment with them to go through your situation again (and hope that you get someone with a bit more tact). Just to clarify the situation, have you kept up with your DMP payments and arranged another payment plan yourself with the new debt you discovered? I pretty much think that if this is the case, and you can afford to pay both then it really isnt a problem and that debt doesnt need to be included in the DMP. However I may be wrong. Why CCCS have told you have to settle this debt in three months is beyond me. Sorry if I have misunderstood your 1st post
(by the way - just one more question - it is a DMP you are on, not an IVA isn't it? Cos that would be a different matter)

Hi
Thanks for all the help.
The debt was an existing debt when I took out the DMP not IVA. I had agreed an amount each month with no interest and charges personally, so I thought I would just carry on as It is working. I have not spent on my C.C for nearly 2 years and prior to taking up an DMP had short term personal arrangements with all my credititors. It was when my circumstances did not change in the year that they started sending letters etc, so I decided to start the DMP, because this debt didn't give me any hassle I just carry on paying it. In jan I wanted to include it into the DMP in order for them all to be as one payment this is when the trouble began, as they rightly said that I had with held information!!
I am going to call them now and see what they say.

Might be worth asking someone like the CAB for advice... can't believe CCCS would say that! Maybe you caught the woman on a bad day?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Hi All
I have just got off the phone to CCCS. I had a lovely lady and after going through a review of my income and exp, I have been able to add the debt and be done with it. A sleep less night wasted, because somebody abusing and misusing there position of power.
I start paying more in July and hopefully this will be the last of it.
