I have one full timejob for a big international company but I've had a letter from HM Revenue and Customs saying by tax code from April saying my tax code from April will be BR (20%) for Scope Creative Marketing Ltd.
I've never heard of this company !! I only have one job. Who are they??

A quick google for Scope Creative Marketing Ltd shows loads of results in directory type sites, but they don't appear to have a website of their own (odd for a marketing company). I would say that they are one of those [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] marketing companies that employ chuggers and door-to-door marketers.
Best thing to do is get in touch with HMRC and tell them that you know nothing about Scope Creative Marketing Ltd and do not have a job with them.0 -
Are the name and address and NI number on the letter correct?
Perhaps you have been mistaken for someone with the same name, or a similar NI no.
BR is normally used for a second job. Perhaps Scope sent the wrong details for a new employee to HMRC.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Yes it's my NI number?! I've never worked for and sales or marketing company how strange. Phoning them is always a nightmare as you are on hold for upto an hour. Hope I haven't been victim of some kind of Identity fraud?0

Not with a tax code of BR for a first job..... or your company you are working for are now owned by them?
It looks like some kind of ID fraud - probably more to do with defrauding HMRC than defrauding the OPYou might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
It's definitely not my current/only employer! Distressing to know this [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] Scope Creative Marketing Ltd have got hold of my NI number? Hope HM R&C don't mess me about with this. What would happen to the tax on my current job?0

In 2001 I worked for Scope Creative Marketing Ltd.
They were a high end design (for print and web) agency. Clients for websites were First Direct, HSBC, Holiday Inns, etc.
They renamed to Dig For Fire some years ago (perhaps 2004) and then more recently merged/ were acquired by Jaywing. jaywing co uk0
