I seem to think at Asda you can get cakes with a photo of your choosing on the icing - I might have made that up though?
Balloons - would these be allowed?
The ward my mil was on didn't allow flowers so she never got to see hers so I would check this. Maybe something like a little primula in a nice pot plant might be better.
Some nice hand creams - I even give my dad hand cream
slippers will be good
You are right about the cake. My niece had her picture on her cake last birthday.
Pretty sure you can get light up candles now, so no need for flames/smoke etc.
Balloons are usually ok on wards
Cut flowers are a no no these days - why not get a few nice fake ones?
Does the ward have a day room? It could be easier to put some balloons etc in there along with some banners and make it a little bit of a party.0 -

Sada defo do the photo cake. Choose a brightly coloured photo if you do it as the colours do tend to come out a bit dull. I'm sure that its only about £10 though. It's a pretty good sized cake as well.Life is not about learning to avoid the storms - it's about learning to dance in the rain.0 -
Glad you only have one left, not so good about the "hold your nose" liquid but if it does help then you have to go for it.
My scan wait was not long and we had xmas in between so hope you get an appointment soon. Nothing worse than not knowing what is going on. Though I am still in that boat, had a bad bout on sunday, not made my doctors appointment for further investigation yet. Too much going on with mum at the moment.

Good morning all
I'm just about to attempt a catch up on last nights antics but our internet is crawling along today  I just did a speed check and it is struggling to manage 1 MG download speed
Typical that we start getting internet problems when we have our lovefilm subscription and want to stream films to make the most of it.
On the plus side DS1 is happily playing cars in his bedroom and DS2 is making the most of being able to crawl around the lounge without DS1 stopping him from touching his toys.
See you in a while.0 -
Good morning all - don't forget last day to use m&s fivers, not sure if there are any great deals on though but I will be going to have a look see tonight. Was a bit hairy tonight:eek and could have done with some tactical blockers just like in American Football: I hadn't intended getting involved tonight as I've got enough fruit now in the fridges to last a couple of weeks (from the last two nights). Thought I might just go late and try and pick up some flowers which are always done last.
Couldn't resist though as when I arrived the crates were just coming out through the double doors and being thrown to the waiting throng which included some of the notorious ill mannered out of towners.
Got a few things in the mellee but gave some of it,as did other locals, to an old gadgy who was a bit taken aback by events and couldn't get a look in despite claiming to be first in the queue. Must be a bit of a newbie if he thought there was going to be an orderly queue:rotfl::rotfl: Trouble is just about everything he was offered he turned his nose up at even when someone had gone around to the bakery reductions and brought back armfuls of things to share. Ungrateful old....never mind:cool:
Sounds like you need friendly back up - just let us know the time and I am sure we can help you :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Have a great day all0 -

Yes I guessed that would be the case. We also got one and DW said she can drop into Stokesley when passing on the way home from college. Probably wouldn't be worth driving all the way out to Stokesley and back to pick up a sample of hand cream no matter how good. There'll also be the hard sell on other products "while you are here" of course.
DW likes the L'occitane stuff but they must make far too much money on it. We were in the Leeds city centre shop a while ago and got as much freshly made fruit tea and glasses of wine as we could drink while we perused the merchandise. When The Fun Stops Stop0
