Tax Credits &P60 can i claim a refund????

Ok, we have been checking out our P60 docs here is the info

My salary £32352
Wife Salary £14880

Punch that into the tax credit web site and we get £509 per year (two kids 4 & 3 paying £174 per week care costs)

Now our P60's say

My Salary £27628
Wife Salary £11124

I know this is correct as our P60's show lower figures due to our pension contributions and use of childcare vouchers via salary sacrafice schemes.

So when i punch in our P60 salary into the tax credit website it shows we are due £3002.....this cannot be right can it? Can i claim it back...

Has anyone else done this...?

Thanks in advance

  • This is an aspect I've just come across in my own Tax Credit claim which is still (for other reasons) not resolved. However, this link to the HMRC website http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/childcare/interaction-tc-cv.htm does provide useful examples of how Tax Credits and Childcare Vouchers interact. It covers situations where the Childcare Vouchers are given as employee benefits and where they are obtained via salary sacrifice.

Have a look at this and if you still need advice give the Tax Credit Helpline a call. I'm not sure how busy it is these days, but try phoning when one of the big soaps are on and you should get through a little quicker!

    Regards.
