Am I Exempt From Paying Court Fees?

Hello, I am trying to sue someone for £20,000 he owes me, and the court costs are going to be around £1500 plus solicitors costs. I am currently receiving Income Based Jobseekers Allowance, and I know if it was a small claim, then I may be exempt from paying court fees. But as this claim is for £20,000 does anyone know if I may still be exempt as the HMCS site does not make it clear.

It doesn't matter how much you claim .... you are exempt under remission 1 for JSA or CTC only or even under remission 2 and 3 for income under around £16,500. The court will ask for evidence of your income.

Thanks for the info. I have been told I have to pay an issue fee, an allocation fee, and the court hearing fee. Will I be exempt from all 3?

Yes, you're exempt from all fees. However, you will have to apply for each exemption when the fee is due.

You need form EX160a from the court.
