Default no longer showing on credit file,Can it still be chased up?

Hi
My friend defaulted on a credit card which showed up on his credit file.
6 years has passed on from default date..Now the default has been removed.
Is the debt still enforceable even though it is no longer showing on his credit file?

A default will fall of the credit file regardless of whether it is paid or not.
It could be statute barred if they have not made a payment or acknowledged the debt for six years?0 -
No payment acknowledgement has been made over the last 6 years..What exactly does statute barred mean?0
