Would 2 defaults on fully paid off accounts stop us being accepted for a mortgage?

Rent and mortgage are not comparable.

As a guide your mortgage should be around 20% lower than rent to compensate for costs involved in ownership.

Mine were paid off as soon as I got the defaults, I am kicking myself as when I was 19/20 I got in a mess financially and paid 21k off in 3 years by moving back home and then when I got this one from the bloody Next directory I could of kicked myself, if was In The couple of months at the end of my maternity leave and we were struggling a bit!
