2013 - the year I become debt free

So last week I had my LBM (18/01/13) - £6024 of debt built up and this is the year to get rid of the debt. I also want to look at buying a property and the only way is to be debt free!

So tomorrow is pay day and the 100% start of frugal living. Just checked my online banking, got £96 left over from the last month. So once paid tomorrow, I'll stick that straight off my credit card.

My soa is here

Will keep you all updated!

£200 groceries - im hoping this is way over budget for a month and will readjust depending on this for the next month

£100 entertainment - going to try and keep this down too, although got a wedding to go to in Feb :-(

£220 fuel - going to leave this in the bank, but keep a close track of how much this is per month

    Hello readers,

So today is payday and I'm off sick from work. Not well, sore throat, bad back and very tired! Spent most of the day asleep on the couch. Feeling better now after paracetamol and sleep!

The good news is, I've not been able to spend any money going to work and saved fuel too, bad news is I've had to cancel the overtime I was going to do at the weekend. There will be more extra hours so not that concerned, but just not a great start to my debt free life!

Not been able to got to the bank to get my money for this months little envelopes - so will do that tomorrow.

    Todays money saving

    - Check AppTrailer - not far off being able to cash out something
    - Food from stores
    - Check Field Agent - nothing near me
    - Free night in watching CBB final
    - watch the snow landing in the garden
    - Dad's birthday in feb, use money from £20 in savings for birthdays/xmas - asked him what he wanted from HDWOW
    - Belated xmas present for mam and dad wanted Royle Family dvd, ordered on HDWOW cheapest with 15% off voucher £8.49
  • Forgot to say!!

Made a payment of £300 straight away to credit card! Feels great to do it, although I'm more used to just making minimum or near minimum payments... It is a scary thought, but its done! Great to see my debt coming down.

    Tomorrow plan,

    - Put as many items as possible on ebay for free listing weekend
    - get rid of old cds/dvd in basement and put on music magpie or something like that
    - Banking in morning
    - check apptrailer
    - check onepoll
    - check field agent
    - Count up all the loose change laying around and pay of CC
    - NSD tomorrow

    Thanks

Im paying for me and my partner at the moment. Partner is a student, so can't afford it really. We both lost over 2 stone each doing it so far and i'm only one stone from my target and my partner is about 2 stone from target.

Think it is worth the short term pain of paying for it but will be worth it in the long term!! Hopefully I'll reach target in the next few months and will be free for me from then on.
  • So things to do today

    - pick up OH's prescription (thankfully free)
    - pick up OH form train station
    - food from stores
    - take money out of bank
    - count loose change
    - list as many items on ebay as possible - the dinning room table is bulging with items to go on
    - go in scary basement and find all the old cds/dvds for MM
    - check app trailer - done
    - check field agent - loads of jobs in my area, going to ask OH to do some today
    - wash bedding
    - clean oven/kitchen

    - NSD!!!

And did I mention I'm still not well, giant cold sore on face, bad back and sore throat!!
  • Well today was NOT a NSD, but only spent £1.67

Looked in the cupboards and thought I need a few bits in to have enough food to last me the week. Found an old Sainsbu*ys gift card and it had £15 on it! Result. So bought a few bits but went over by £1.67, was trying to stay within budget! The £1.67 I used from some loose change but will take it off my Feb shopping.

Listed 5 items on ebay, got loads more to go on. Aim at least 5 more tonight!!

Its been a while since I spent so little on a Saturday!! :j
  • So today has been a good day although I'm still not feeling well at all.

Managed to list 12 items on ebay, hopefully they will all sell! Wish me luck. I also dug out some old clothes and managed to get about 10kgs worth so think that should be worth £5. Going to do the make £10 a day Feb challenge when it starts, so will save the clothing til then!

A family member has just reminded me that I owe them £99 for a 18th birthday present going back to November and I've got a wedding in Feb that I need to buy a gift for and the cost of going. So the Feb challenge above will help cover the costs.

Order gift for Dad for birthday out of £20 set a side for gifts each month in soa done
    Check app trailers done
    check onepoll done
    check ebay done
    check online banking done
    check field agent done
Start reminding OH not to spend any money on Valentines day done :rotfl:
  • NSD today!!

Looking forward to starting the Feb make £10 per day challenge going to aim for the full £280. Also doing the weekly spend challenge this week too and I've set myself up for spending no more than £45.

Made my lunch for work for tomorrow already, determined not to spend any money tomorrow at work.
  • So today hasn't been too bad. Made a donation of £5 in to a gift for someone at work. And bought some eggs from the egg man at work. these eggs are lovely huge and cheap! Total spend £6.75.

No spends on lunch at work, and I'm very proud to say I took my own lunch in and didn't spend a penny!! Very unlike me!

Tomorrow and Thursday should be good days too, car service tomorrow but its all part of my package so wont cost me anything and they have a lovely FREE coffee machine in the waiting room!!! Only got SW to pay for and possible a gym session on Thursday.
