Aviva (CU Homemaker) Endowment Final Bonus Level 2013??

One of my endowments comes to an end this April and I wondered if anyone has any insight into what the final bonus will be?

It was a Commercial Union Homemaker Endowment started in 1995 (now Aviva). I believe final bonus rates last year were 32% but I have heard that many are expecting rates to fall this year across most providers.

I believe Aviva announce rates publically in February but interested in any views/information people/advisers may have.

Hope to pay off mortgage next year so the higher the rate the less pain it will be!!cc:rotfl:

Thanks

  • My one and only bump just in case anyone has any feedback.

If you cannot answer directly, is there any reason why a final bonus could change significantly over the last 12 months for this policy and its start date of 1995?

    Many thanks
  • You will probably be looking at a shortfall in excess of 20% of the total you hoped it will cover.

Some family members who have these exact policies are about £11000 or so short of a £50000 mortgage...this included the so called terminal bouses and mortgage promises.

Not great reading and they are really cheesed off with Aviva/Norwich Union/Commercial Union

    ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!!

Just had final bonus confirmed for this year and it is 21% ---- fallen from 31% last August!!

Would of been 13% under if bonus hadn't dropped so dramatically. Apparently nothing I can do to complain about that.

Fortunately, we have made over payments for the last 3 years and have kept our end date the same from when I got my first mortgage 23 years ago (not 25 years for some reason - think we could afford it and Financial Adviser said it would save money in long term:T).

So have saved 1000's and 1000's on interest in the long term by not extending our mortgage every time we moved :j.

As for Aviva........ such is life.:(
  • My family have just had all the figures in from Aviva and it's pretty bad....a shortfall of £11.7k on a £50k mortgage...the figures even dropped from what they were given just a few months back.....the so called terminal bonus was a convoluted equation involving a 16% multiplication of the bonuses and amount assured....they thought it would be an extra standalone payment for staying till the end........and this shortfall would have been over £3000 greater had they not had this nebulous mortgage promise. What a disasterous investment scheme.......and no one is to blame apparently:(

All in all a shambolic end for 25 years of loyally staying with the company in its various forms but a lesson bought is a lesson taught...and Aviva even had the brass neck to include an offer pack in the literature to take out further investments with them.......jokers
