In Trust Deed and Bank Closing Account Down...Desperately Need Advice!!!

We just got a letter from the Co-Op bank. We entered into a trust deed a little over a year ago and opened a basic account with the Co-Op. Christmas was a tough time for us this year for a number of reasons and some direct debits weren't paid on time due to insufficient funds. This goes against the terms & conditions of the account so they have cancelled all of our direct debits, standing orders etc. and the account is due to close in 30 days. My wife is in a major panic. We called them and they pretty much told us "nothing we can do...it is what it is". I plan to make an appointment at our nearest branch to speak to someone face to face. But I'm not confident. So what are our options? We will probably have to find another bank that will let us open an account. Isn't another bank likely to refuse to let us open even a basic account as a result of the Co-Op having closed us down. We're both really worried about this and would really appreciate any advice anyone on this forum is able to offer.
