in Cutting tax
I heard mentioned that it is possible to reduce tax if you do not have meal breaks / or no provision for meal prep at work.
Any truth in this?

where did you hear this?
Ask them for references you can use to follow up.0 -
There is no requirement to provide meal prep or eating facilities at work anyway.
If you work more than 6 hours then you must be allowed a minimum of 20 min break for a meal which can not be negotiated away. Working for 6 hrs or less and you have no right to a break.
So the answer to your question is you can not get any tax breaksThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Unfortunately I cannot go back to the main source.
!!!!!!, thanks, I believe I work in one of the sectors were this legal right to breaks can be ignored. I think the point I heard was that an hour per day for example was presumed to not be worked so was taxed differently.. A bit far fetched maybe.EZ0 -

If you are paid for a break, then you're taxed at the same rate as the rest of your earnings. If you're not paid for a break, then you're not taxed at all on it. That's the only tax break you'll get ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

Hang on in some circumstances you can be paid the price of a meal tax free.
There were grey elements of custom and practice involved, when we debated this a few days back:

AFAIK they have to provide facilities to allow you to warm your food (microwave) unless there is a food establishment within a short distance.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
My thought processes don't equate a microwave used to reheat foot as food preparation that is why I said what I did.
A way of heating food and clean drinking water are the only requirementsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Really? You have to provide a way of heating food if no food outlets nearby?
I thought toilets, access to drinking water and somewhere to hang your coat were the only requirements ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
