I have been offered a job today subject to a medical.
Has anyone had a medical before? If so, what is checked and what sort of condition could see the offer withdrawn. I suffer from migraines (nothing that has caused time off work), I am currently taking anti-depressants too after ghe death of my mum and then losing my job last year, will this be held against me?
Otherwise I am a healthy 46 year old so should have no worries?

I had a hearing, sight, blood pressure, height, weight (for BMI) and drugs and alcohol test. As well as a general health chat with a nurse.
The sight test was with and without glasses.
You have to declare any prescription drugs as they can show in the drugs test and I think i signed something to say they could check my medical records if they wanted.
Be honest about migranes and the anti d's and you'll be fine. If you're found to be lying you'll be up for instant dismissal.0 -
I once many years ago was not even offered the job but John Lewis made me have a medical. I think it was height, weight, hearing and the even took a urine sample!!!!! I would not agree to this now I am older unless I had a job offer.
Then I had one when I was working for a large railway engineering company and had a medical questionaire to fill out and had to attend BUPA to see a doctor who did drugs screening on my urine as we were not allowed to drink at all during work or even buy a bottle of wine at lunch time and have it in the building. Instant dismissal. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
