Mortgages for existing customers only

Hi
I need a low deposit mortgage (later in the year) and ive noticed a lot of 90% LTV deals that say 'for existing customers only'. Ive seen HSBC, Nationwide and a few others with such deals.
I understand that a lot of 90% LTV mortgages get turned down and i wondered if being an existing customer made you more likely to get accepted?
I dont want to move my main bank account but i have another account that i need to / could move (as i dont get my salary paid into it the bank have told me it has to be moved).
Does anyone have a view on which bank is best to move to? Who accepts 90% LTV applications the most?
Do i have to have my salary paid in to the account to qualify for an existing customer deal?
I realise my existing bank may have such an offer (which could be the right deal) but if i can open an account at another bank as well and double my chances i guess i might as well....
Any advice would be much appreciated.
JC

They are existing mortgage customer deals.
