Hi. We only decided to get married in December and I have booked everything. We are marrying at Edinburgh Castle (we live in Bedford) with 30 close friends and then a months's honeymoon touring South Africa (which I booked myself over the net). I have attached a link to an American company who offer designer bridesmaids dresses at 30 - 50% of UK prices. With the current exchange rate being excellent for Brits I have found Watters & Watter and Dessy dresses on there for £50 when they are over £200 here. We are getting married on a thursday and its much cheaper to get married during the week. All our friends who want to be with us have booked holiday off work and are making a weekend of it. It cuts down on miscellaneous relatives who would come for the free nosh, but who you probably don't want there anyway. By being married at the Castle, we aren't having wedding cars as we are all booked in accomodation close by and will all walk up together. We aren't having a reception because as soon as you mention "wedding", they double the price. We are all going to a beautiful French restaurant (walkable - no cars!) and have organised a separate room for us, but we will eat whatever is on the menu. I don't think its fair to make your guests decide 6 weeks in advance what they want to eat!!We decided to have a cheap wedding with our best friends and spend all our money on the honeymoon which is the most important part as it is the start of your new life together. Too many people spend a fortune on the wedding and then can only afford 2 weeks somewhere. Most people have 2 weeks for any holiday so make it special by having longer with your new husband. Good luck. Michelle. X0
