When can I apply to re-mortgage?

Our fixed rate mortgage is due to end in May - does anyone know when we can secure a re-mortgage rate (but waiting till the end of our fixed rate for completion)??

Is there a standard period, or do providers differ?

    It depends on how long the offer would be valid for. Some are three months, some six and others have a set "drawdown deadline."

    I'd say March is about the right time to apply for a May remortgage completion. Earlier if you have any specific issues which will need to be resolved.

    Funding For Lending (FLS) should mean rates get better as we go through the year. Lenders have made commitments to lend more as a condition of taking part in this scheme and will be penalised if they fail to do so.

    Keep your eye on what's happening.
