Whilst looking through the paperwork from the broker and Northern Rock I noticed that the information in relation to my income and expenditure is incorrect, the applicatio states that my outgoings are almost £300 less than what they actuall were, not that this reflects on the PPI however seems starnge that the broker put incorrect info on the application...who knows!!

Northern Rock wouldnt know what a broker arranges. Its not their job to know. They get an application for mortgage (often submitted online) and paperwork sent in to support the mortgage. Nothing to do with PPI.

Was this before or after insurance regulation (Jan 2005)?

no bother thrugle, how would i find this out re ppi as i seem to be paying £42 per month more than i should be and nram can seem to tell me why.

Is it paid seperately to the mortgage? Is it paid to NRAM?
  • it was 2007. Should NRAM not be able to tell me where this extra money is going and what its for, Ive been at them for over 8 months now and they still havent given me an answer.

Stop the direct debit. That should cause a reaction.

No. brokers do not tell lenders the products they sell. The lender only knows about the mortgage.

If you are making a separate payment to the lender, it will probably be for an insurance product of some description. It could be buildings & contents insurance, or it could be mortgage payment protection.

Either way, I don't expect your broker sold it. If that was the case, it would be more likely to be with a separate firm.

IIRC NR did offer some mortgage payment protection free of charge at the outset. Is it possible you keep on such cover after the end of the free period?
