Aren't we just having banter and voicing some alternative to solutions to problems? Yes I agree I would be the first 'batch' of enforced sterilisation, I wear tracksuits and am immune to exercise
so how about getting prisoners to build the new HS2 track? America use chain gangs? Wouldn't that save a little money?
Save even more - don't build it.;)
Improve existing lines/infrastructure/making routes more flexible to appeal to more users.
Saving 20/30 mins on a commute into Euston pales into insignificance if you then have to trundle across the city, with all the other public transport dead time.
Will it benefit the North? £2 retuirn, over an unspecified time for a soft cost of £1 doesn't seem that good or achievable. The cost of necessary links at teach end of the line isn't included in costings. Expand Manchester/Birmingham Airport at less cost probably have the same effect.

When the HS2 become a reality would this not open up greater use of the railway system to more controlled freight being moved from our highways to the rail network ?
This then would then make our journey on the roads faster with the absence for the need for more heavy goods?0 -
