Lost GMAC mortgage paperwork - need loan number to submit a PPI and fees claim

Hi there
I need a bit of help if possible my wife and I used to have a mortgage with GMAC and it was paid off in 2006. I know for a fact we have late and missed payments and more than likely PPI on there aswell. I'd like to submit a DSAR to GMAC to see if I can claim anything back and to see if PPI was on there but I cannot find the original paperwork with the mortgage account number on. Is there any way of finding out the mortgage number so I can submit a DSAR/
Thanks in advance.

Why? GMAC mortgages were sold via brokers and not direct IIRC. So, GMAC wouldnt know if you had PPI or not.I'd like to submit a DSAR to GMAC to see if I can claim anything back and to see if PPI was on there but I cannot find the original paperwork with the mortgage account number on. look at your bank statements and see if the direct debit has a reference number. It may match the mortgage. However, it wont help you on PPI.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi found the mortgage number from some old statements, should I DSAR GMAC first then find out if who the broker was? Then DSAR the broker? And if the broker has went bust at time of taking out the mortgage, responsibility ultimately falls to GMAC as they supplied the mortgage? Final question for charges late fees I would approach GMAC, as I know there are some as we ended up in court.

Just a quick one, even if the mortgage was obtained via a third party (broker for GMAC), ultimately GMAC would be responsible as any PPI would have been included on the mortgage repayment regardless of third party involvement (panel of brokers). Thats how I would see it but I'm not a legal beagle.0

Not if it was a monthly payment.0 -

GMAC dont have liability. The broker does. Was this bought before January 2005?Just a quick one, even if the mortgage was obtained via a third party (broker for GMAC), ultimately GMAC would be responsible as any PPI would have been included on the mortgage repayment regardless of third party involvement (panel of brokers). Broker is liable. Not lender. Most brokers did not become regulated until Jan 2005 so only cases sold after that can be complained about.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). By that logic they would be liable if you burned the house down because they provided the mortgage.
It is also almost certain that the PPI, if it ever existed at all, was a regular premium paid out of earned income, not the money you borrowed.0 -

First of all there is nothing wrong with having PPI, the issue is not having it, its the mis-selling.
Secondly, you cannot allege someone mis-sold you something when they didnt sell you anything. GMAC are supplier of the finance, NOT provider of the advice. Its like blaming the orchard that Sainsburys has priced up its apples wrong!0
