It will but the difference might be that you pay your rent 5 days late or not at all?
I'm no expert regarding what course of action you should be taking but if you want to stop the money going into your account then you need to speak to your accounts department soon or it will be too late (I think banking business day ends at 3.30pm?)
Once that's all sorted (and advising the bank not to pay the PD loans) you really need to get over to the benefits board where they'll be more able to advice you what you might be entitled to. I suspect the low amount you've been quoted is because you will only get enough benefits to enable you to pay for a room share in a house and not to rent your own flat. Is that something you would be prepared to look into?
Hi no I'm entitled to a 1 bed flat for me
And my partner and the housing can pay up to £550 my rent is £500 and they will still only give £165 and no council tax benefit its all so confusing.0 -

Once the bank's sorted get yourself over to the benefits board, they'll be able to help you out there.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Lucy - try and do this now. If you have time after that, also close the Natwest account with immediate effect (if within their terms and conditions). If there is no way the account can be closed in time and other direct debits go out tomorrow then you may go overdrawn and that will need to be addressed.
Stepchange will be able to add the overdraft to your plan and may also be able to advise on whether the bank have acted in accordance with PSR (or may signpost you to a professional agency for specific advice on this). If I am correct in my interpretation of the PSR regulations you may be able to receive some form of financial compensation from NatWest if any complaint is upheld and provenI work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

I would just like to add that if you have internet banking you can cancel a direct debit. I don't know if this is a direct debit but last month I didn't want to pay someone so I cancelled the direct debit online. I am with Barclays. Initially, they tried to take the money but then it bounced back into my account again. Have a look on your internet banking. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Hi all
Really not sure where I should have posted this to as couldnt find a section quite matching my situation lol.
Basically, me and my partner work at the same place and since the beginning of January our hours have greatly reduced I am literally getting 9 hours a week work and my partner is getting around 19 hours a week.
I have around £1700 in bills going out this month, I am probably going to get around £900 between us, I can't get income support as I dont have a child and I cant even get jobseekers allowance as my partner works over 16 hours a week, I cant get council tax benefit, the only benefit I can get is housing benefit which doesnt even cover half of my rent.
Next month I will probably get around £600 between us, I really don't know what to do. I have bad credit and so does my partner, I have tried for loans everywhere you could think of and I already owe so much in debts.
I cant sleep at night I am constantly worrying about paying for everything, I am trying my best to look for a new job but it is proving very hard and even if I do get a new one I wont get my first pay until 2 months and I wouldnt be able to pay the bills in the meantime still.
I don't have any family or friends that can lend me any money neither does my partner, I really feel I am going to be homeless next month, the landlord is in debt with the mortgage and so cannot accept any less rent from me. I also don't have anywhere else I can stay neither does my partner.
Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated it as right now I don't know what I am going to do and I really have hit rock bottom please help.
Thanks
Lucy

I'm just wondering if you have an overdraft facility. Because if not, surely if you transferred the money at midnight then the bank would bounce the Wonga payment. If you have an overdraft could you transfer the limit over? Just a thought. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Thanks Rachel
Willing2learn I gave Wonga a call the day before and they said they would cancel the payment and that I had to fill in a financial assessment and I can pay it back monthly, so it's all worked out ok they didn't take the full amount and I only have to pay a little bit each month and won't get charged interest unless I break the payment plan, I'm shocked to be honest I didn't think they would be this helpful!
Thank you very much for all your advice.
Am just glad I didn't have the whole amount go out otherwise I would have been in trouble with my other bills.

I don't know if you're in London, OP, but I read about this scheme in the Metro this morning which might be worth looking into if you're in need of (more) affordable housing and have time on your hands for the apprenticeship:
