I buy D@z, the large boxes, and hopefully on offer!
For me and two kids, we get through 2 boxes a year which works out at about £1 a month
I read loads on here from people who only use a tablespoon of powder and to be honest, I haven't noticed a difference in how clean the clothes are.
I use one tbsp for darks and two for whites. I do use a bit of white vinegar instead of softener so that bumps the cost up fractionally.Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

I use Mr T or Asda tablets. I use one tablet and the same amount again in soda. This not only makes them go further it softens the water, which in turn makes more suds and will hopefully make my machine live longer.
I have always used tablets as I can tell at a glance how many washes I have left. This has helped me budget my weekly shop.0 -
I use several varieties of washing powder/tablets at once. I use the top of the range one if something is stained, but the cheapest for everything else, and a pure soap one for wool etc.
I have never noticed a difference in performance between tablets, liquids etc. I think they all have the same basic ingredients if they are the same grade so i just get whichever one is on offer.

I buy the supermarket own brand or any if its on offer. We did use the liquid for a while, but i found it was dearer and not cleaning as good as powder.
