I need some suggestions on which dress is suitable for my bridesmaids. They are all plus sized girls and I would like to purchase a dress that would flatter them all. I was considering empire dresses with floor length, my wedding colors are light sky blue. What do you guys think of my choices? Does anybody have advice about what kind of bridesmaid dress is the most appropriate for plus sized girls? Thanks!

Something taffeta, with a apron front as this hides a multiple of sins and will make your Bridesmaids feel much more comfortable
I am a plus size bride and can you tell from trying on dresses that the above works!:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

From personal experience, I would seriously consider getting them made from scratch0

I am having the exact same problem, I am getting married in August, have bridesmaids between a size 12 and 24/26. I can't afford to spend £800 on 4 dresses being specially made! I'll be watching this forum with interest.
I am looking for pale, muted tones, however the highstreet is proving difficult.Weightloss: 18lbs/28lbs (Start weight: 11st, Current 9st 10)

Don't get empire line, I think they're hideous on bigger girls and only suit really skinny ones!
Fitted and draped rather than too loose or tight is the way forward. Have you looked at the Simply Be website? They have lovely dresses in larger sizes.

Pale colours are very difficult to wear with most skin tones. Empire line will make them look pregnant.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

speaking as an overweight - pale colours don't generally suit people over weight.
I would go for dark colours - navy for example is very slimming.
The style of dress that I find makes me look best is fitted at the top, and slightly sprung from the waist downwards, and definately not strapless.
sb88 - you could consider going for different dresses but the same material. I bought my bridesmaid dresses in a bridal shop and got them for £115 each, the right bridal shop can be cheaper than the high streetWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

Yeah, I am considering online shopping. I was told that some online dress dealers offer made-to-measure service. I hope to find a reputable online store. Thanks for your advice!reformedEffortmaker wrote: »From personal experience, I would seriously consider getting them made from scratch0

Take a look at Chicstar for a couple of nice dresses. Whilst they're not traditional bridesmade dresses by far, some of them fit really nice on a plus size figure. I'm hankering after the corset ribbon lace dress myself. But they have a couple of nice dresses in their collection that might be an idea for "cheaper" dresses, but expect to do a little fitting work, perhaps straps added etc.
Nice thing about it is people upload their own pictures so you get a true representative of what they really look like without the mini model and photoshop elements!
I personally bought the polka dot swing dress in red, and adore it. But i had to adjust the bust to fit me, which was a couple of darts. Was quick to arrive, didn't get stung for customs, but perhaps expect that if you place a large order, and there are usually a fair number of saving codes for the site too.

As there are a lot of people on that one who are plus size, and may be able to offer suggestions.0 -
Also how about Vivien of Holloway - some of her dresses ain't a bad price and most of the plus size ladies I know love her!
