final value fee's

Hi all,

I have been searching through Ebays terms for " sellers charging ' final value fee's' " with out much luck ..........

So can any one point me to any information on this please?

My wife purchased some pillow cases and a few days later the seller emails ( and raises an Ebay case) to say she has not paid for delivery and her final value fee, £15 P&P + £3 final value fee!

Now the listing had free P&P all over it in at least 3 places even the picture. Now I am not to bothered about the P&P charges as we will contest this (the listing did state some where in small print that Ebay would not let her charge P&P)

However I was under the impression that additions to auction fees such as final value fee was not allowed by Ebay .... am I correct ?

I can post the item number if it is required / allowed.

Thanks

Ralph

No you should not be paying his final value fees in the slightest.

When you say 'seller has raised a case against you.' Do you mean a non-paying bidder case? In which case, why didn't you pay straight away before he could start invoicing you nonsense?

Are you able to go through the ebay checkout and pay for it as it was listed, without the additional fees?

Also these must be some very heavy pillow cases if they want to charge you £15 for them! (What did the listing say exactly re postage? It seems to have contradicted itself?)

Correct, the FVF is the fee charged to the seller and is payable by the seller and is not allowed to be "passed on". No problem posting the item number.

Sorry for the confusion .......... the wife paid straight away as it was a Buy It Now.

and yes she was able to go through the ebay checkout and pay for it as it was listed, without the additional fees.

She was surprised when the the Ebay message from the seller arrived several days later along with the message from Ebay resolutions !

I am presuming that I will have to report the seller :-( , but just wanted to check out the validity of the added fee's

    thanks

Reply to the case listing your paypal reference and then report her as a non performing seller and neg her. Also report the listing. She are obviously TSFE. Quite a few sold over the past few days so maybe a few negs heading her way. I see she has got one already for precisely that and responds with comment that buyer did not read listing. They won't be on ebay for much longer.

"So i take it they have not posted you anything yet?"

No (or at least nothing received) as they now want £15 P&P and £3 final value fee.

The Ebay resolution centre was a request to cancel the transaction as it was claimed to have been bought in error !

The seller just claimed we had not paid P&P

I am presuming the seller is new and made a hash of the listing, and did not understand that extra fee's can n or be added on.

  • decline the cancellation request if you have not done so already, that will stop them getting a credit for their FVF's which they deserve even if you get a refund and don't continue with the sale.
Then as others have said report them to ebay, if ebay aren't letting them charge postage like they say then they should be adding the postage cost onto the price, £15 is extortionate for bedding though.

Dont cancel just file a claim if they don't arrive.

Their feedbacks already been hit. I see the 'extra charge' is hidden at the bottom. If you do email them - tell them they need to add postage to the price of FUTURE sales - but they cannot charge extra for items already sold.

Does seem like they don't know what they are doing, rather than synical - but not your problem. Probably the multiple item lister that baffled em. Better off listing each item seperately.

Under the product description it says:
ALL ITEMS SENT BY LOCAL COURER FIRM IN INVERNESS, AND SUPPLIED WITH FULL TRACKING INFORMATION. UPTO 15KG £15.00
SELECT DELIVERY IN DROP DOWN MENU _ ONLY WAY EBAY WILL ALLOW IT!

They have revised the listing several times though so not sure when this was added. It's still a scam though as they state free delivery then expect you to pay..
