Pre 1991 valuation for council tax appeal

I am convinced that in 1991 our new home was comfortably below the valuation threshold for its current Band D status. I have used the Land Registry and Zoopla to find out that the house was sold in 1996. I can find nothing for the street prior to 1995, certainly nothing appears to be in the public domain regarding property sales in 1991!! Conspiracy theory somewhere?

I have used the estimator for the value we purchased for, the value of the previous owners and the people previous to that. All three come out in the low 60's, so I feel we should have a good case. I know the estimator isn't any good for evidence, but is there a way Joe Public can get the evidence required to substantiate a claim?

Thanks

Mark

Pre 1995 sale prices are not in the public domain. What was the sale price in 1996 as these tended to be lower than 1991.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Thanks for answering. The only 2 properties listed were £36,000 in 1995 and £45,500 in 1996. Not sure how similar they are, but still 3 bed semi.

Unless they are a similar type and size to yours they will be of little use as comparables. Look for similar type and size in nearby streets both sale prices and bands.
