Debt collection letter from Buchanan Clark & Wells

Hi, just a quick update....I found a prove it letter on here and sent it to BCW along with a £1 postal order. A few days after sending I received a letter back saying my account was now on hold as they do not have the information I require. They also returned my postal order which I thought was rather nice of them. I probably shouldn't speak too soon but it's been about a month now and haven't heard anything else from either company.
Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it. It's a big scary world out there.
Hi, just wondering if you heard anything else? I have just received a letter from BC&W with the client Aktive Kapitan /ge capital bank. I think it is from a debenhams store card whose payments i defaulted on due to financial difficulties. That was 15 years ago. Not sure what to do!

Ignore or send the letter in this link.

if you have not acknowledged the debt in 6 years (5 in scotland) then the debt is "Statute Barred" and not enforcable.
If someone would be so kind as to supply a letter template, just send it to them informing them of this.0 -
Check it is Statute barred and just ignore them if it is.
They dont need you to point out what they already know.
Contacting them will just bring more harassment .
Ignore unless they attempt to issue CCJ papers.
They can not obtain a CCJ, but they can ask and demand you pay and you can ignore them as well in response.Be happy...;)0 -
Do a search for letter templates by Fermi. This is statute barred and you are not bound to pay it, so dont. Alternatively, you can send them a basic common sense letter saying that you thank them for their correspondance, but as this debt is from more than 6 years ago, it is now statute barred and you decline their invitation to pay it. You now consider the matter closed and thank them to cease collection activities against you.
...essentially tell them to go forth and multiply. Its as simple as that. No need to be scared, theres nothing they can do about it.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

If your sure the debit is statute barred then shred the letter it's not worth the paper it's written on .
Whatever you do, DO NOT call .
I agree with Spacey it's not worth the bother of contacting then with a prove it letter either .Never tell .0
